We’re Laura and Gaynor, co-founders of Sanará Pilates.
Our story begins over 30 years ago, when Laura was a young dancer taking classes with Gaynor at her local dance school. For 10 years, Gaynor nurtured Laura’s passion for movement, instilling a strong foundation in Ballet technique and a love for the art of dance. Laura went on to train professionally in all dance disciplines whilst Gaynor took her Pilates knowledge across the world to Australia.
Fast forward to a chance reunion, when Laura walked into one of Gaynor’s Pilates Reformer classes. Reconnecting sparked a new partnership, and within a year, Laura had qualified as a Pilates instructor, joining forces with Gaynor to bring mindful movement to our community. We’re thrilled to share our passion for Pilates with you and can’t wait to support you on your journey.

Sanará Pilates is a dedicated Pilates space; offering Reformer classes in our studio at Stowe Castle, nestled in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. As well as Mat classes in multiple locations within the community.
Our goal is to create a welcoming space for anybody looking to explore Pilates. Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do, so whether you are brand new to Pilates or you’ve been practising for a while, we will offer tailored support, guidance and challenge to all.
Our highly trained instructors are dedicated to providing quality coaching, focusing on Pilates principles that help you move freely; with strength, flexibility, and good alignment.

We currently run our Pilates mat sessions at Finmere Village Hall (MK18 4AT) and Akeley Village Hall (MK18 5HB). Check in with our timetable for full class details.
Practicing Pilates whilst pregnant is a safe and effective way to keep your body moving. However, it is essential to make modifications to ensure the safety of both the parent and baby. It is not recommended to start a new form of exercise if you have not already been practicing prior to your pregnancy. Our group classes are not specifically tailored to pregnancy, so if you are pregnant or become pregnant whilst you are a member with us, the below conditions apply:
- You will be required to attend a 1:1 session with us charged at a reduced rate of £15. This is to ensure you understand the changes required to your movements for your own safety and to enable you to get the most from your group sessions.
- For current members or those who have practiced with us regularly before becoming pregnant, we will discuss in your 1:1 session your readiness to attend our group classes. If there are any complications or if we see any other reason as to why you may not be able to attend our group session, we will advise you.
- For anyone who hasn’t practiced with us before becoming pregnant, please note that during your 1:1 session we may decide that group classes aren’t the safest option at this time. If so, we’d be more than happy to support your practice through continued 1:1 sessions instead. You can find our private session pricing on our website. We hope you understand, this approach is to ensure your safety and wellbeing.

For Reformer classes you will need to bring grippy socks, these will be available to purchase at the studio in the near future, in the meantime, please bring some with you.
For Mat classes, please bring a Mat with you (we sometimes have spares so just drop us a note if you’re attending but are not able to bring your own mat). If you have small hand weights you can bring these too.
For both Reformer and Mat, you will also want to bring a drink and possibly a small towel.
For your safety and to ensure you get the most out of your classes, we strongly advise all new clients to take a part in an induction. This is a full 55 minute class so you will get a good workout! The pace will be a little slower, allowing you to ask any questions you may have. We will also talk you through the principles of Pilates and the equipment including any key safety points.
If you are concerned about a current or previous injury and how it might affect your practice, please drop us a message at info@sanarapilates.co.uk and we will do our best to advise if a group class is a good fit for you. If not, we can arrange 1:1 sessions to tailor the practice more to your personal needs.
Please also ensure you complete the PAR Q Health Questionnaire required from all clients prior to attending a class.
